The Nigerian Automobile Technicians Association (NATA) appointed Comrade Musa Yahaya as its substantive General Secretary at the end of July.
Comrade Musa Yahaya graduated from the University of Lagos. He was the Secretary of the Kano State Chapter of the Association from where he rose to become the Deputy General Secretary responsible for the north-western Zone. As a grassroots mobilizer for NATA, he was fondly called Dan Masani NATA, by members.
The position of the General Secretary of NATA was vacant after a protracted legal battle which the court eventually disposed of in favour of the union.
The Nigeria Automobile Technicians Association was formed in 1919 as the Motor Mechanics Union, making it one of the first trade unions in Nigeria.
