None of the ruling parties since Nigeria’s return to civil rule in 1999, after working-class people and youth fought the military to a standstill, has represented the poor masses. First the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), ruled for 16 years and now the APC has been in power for 10 years. All the governments on the platforms of both parties have pushed neoliberal policies of privatisation and deregulation that have made living difficult for the masses.
When PDP was ousted out from office in 2015 by the All Progressive Congress (APC), the country was plunged into yet another period of privatisation programme with the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP) The General Buhari APC governments had former members of the PDP. Nasir El-Rufai for example was a founding member of the APC amongst other people from the PDP, showing the sameness of both parties.
The current government of Tinubu with its increasing anti-people policies that is unleashing pains on the mass on the working people, Nasir El-rufai has been peddling statement around, attacking the government that even has a member of the APC he is not in the know of what the program of the regime of Tinubu is doing and that Nigerians must come together to oust the current government out of office by the next general election.
Also in the same vein, the PDP has been faced with a series of internal wrangling, where some of its members have accused the APC government of throwing seeds of discord within their party.
As SWL, make bold to state that the 16 years rule of the PDP and now the 10 years misrule of the APC have all been for the benefit of the rich few and to the detriment of the masses. These two political parties are nothing but the same .
Working-class people need a revolutionary party that is committed to providing leadership to bring to bear a better future for us.
African Action Congress (AAC) since its founding in 2018 represents such an alternative, The AAC’s People’s Manifesto for Total Liberation speaks to the heart of the struggles of women, youths and the working people. Nigerians must not be fooled by the wranglings and issues within and between the APC/PDP as a bait to garner their sympathy. These parties are two sides of the same coin. They do not represent us.
We need to unite and fight for Revolution NOW!
