The National Executive Council (NEC) of Nigeria Union of Civil Service Secretarial and Stenographic Workers has called on the leadership of the Union as a matter of urgency to re-open the demand for the elongation of the confidential secretary cadre to directorate level.

nucsasw balogunThis was contained In a communiqué issued at the end of its 38th NEC meeting held on 29th October 2015 at the Ibrahim Shehu Shema Hall Katsina, Katsina State and signed by both the National President of the Union, Comrade Y. Y. Yashi and the General Secretary, Com. P. O. Balogun. The NEC-in-session while appreciating the working people and trade union movement in Katsina State commended its state council for being resolute in fighting to defend the rights of members, over the years.

The occasion was also used to call for more sustained efforts to eradicate the Boko-Haram insurgency and terrorism in the North East of the country. This requires workers providing an alternative of popular power to the disillusioned youth that might otherwise be attracted to the group, despite its tactics of terror.

The NEC-in-session urged both the Federal and State Governments to ensure that the civil servants are paid their salaries as at when due, while pensioners are equally paid regularly.

Finally, the NEC also called on the Federal and the State Government to embark on recruitment of trained secretarial and reportorial staff in the best interest of the public service as the union observed that the dearth of members of these cadres in Government services has assumed a worrisome dimension and therefore requires urgent attention by both the Federal and State Governments.
